Teeth whitening is a great way to enhance a smile. In our office, we utilize Opalescence from Ultradent, the #1 whitening product in the market.
The two options for whitening are in office whitening, which is completed at the dental office or take home whitening, which patients can complete at the comfort at their own home.
In office whitening:
For in office whitening, we use Opalescence Boost. It is a 40% hydrogen peroxide gel that is chemically activated and placed onto the teeth for two to three 15 to 20 minute applications. A bulky and hot ultraviolet whitening light is not required to activate the whitening gel. Results are noticeable right away after the appointment, ideal for patients that need whiter teeth quickly.
Take home whitening:
For the take home whitening, Opalescence PF 35% is used. An impression of the patient’s top and bottom teeth are taken in order to fabricate a custom whitening tray to fit. The whitening tray consists of “wells” for each tooth in which the whitening gel is applied to. Results for take home whitening are comparable to in office whitening, however, it usually takes longer to achieve the same results.
